NI rolls out bug fixing Traktor 2.7.1

traktor 2.7.1

Traktor 2.7 was a significant release, but as with any software release there are always issues to fix. And that’s exactly what Traktor 2.7.1 is. There’s nothing new being added, just a few bugs to squish, and an updated controller manager too.

The brief words from NI:

TRAKTOR PRO 2.7.1 is now available for free download in the NI Service Center. This is a bugfix update, which primarily solves an issue with the LED states on TRAKTOR controllers. Here’s what’s new in this update:

  • New Controller Editor – version (1.7.2)
  • S8 manuals are now included in the installers
  • Fixed issue that caused problems with the ‘LED off state’ on some TRAKTOR controllers
  • Fixed issue that caused a brightness problem on TRAKTOR KONTROL F1 controllers
  • Fixed issue where importing TSI settings from TRAKTOR PRO 2.6.8 caused high CPU load

We recommend all TRAKTOR users keep their software up to date to ensure the best possible user experience.

To install the update, please start the NI Service Center. Open the ‘Update’ tab, make sure the checkbox for TRAKTOR is checked, and click the ‘Download’ button. When the download is finished, just click the ‘Install’ button.

Jared is still on with his Kontrol S8 review, and has run into a multicore issue that requires further investigation by NI. I don’t think this update will fix it though. More on this when we have it.

The Old Owner
    1. Stick with 2.6.8 for now. That’s my recommendation. I updated to 2.7.1 and then to 2.7.3 and in both versions I lost the ability to have auto-cued loops. Also lost ability to use cues within a loop, while the loop stays active/engaged. It sucks because those features are great. So for now I’m dealing with 2.6.8 because the advanced loop features work, although the LED issue is still present in 2.6.8. I cannot adjust the “Off” state anymore and my hot-cue lights on my Z2 are much dimmer than they used to be. Despite trying to alter the Text file manually. Oi

It seems the LED brightness issue is fixed in 2.7.1 & 2.7.3, but the loop features are gone. Kinda sucks but worth the trade off to keep loop features.

    1. On my same set up it crashes when opening TSP2 External hard drive when I shut off external it resumes but works great afterwards? Is this happening to you?

  1. I just had a mix for a couple of hours and it seemed fine. I don’t use an X1 or F1 though so no idea regarding the LED issues as I use DVS and other controllers (VCI100se, DDM4000, Maschine mk2, LPD8, Bass station). No noticeable change to be honest, everything imported fine etc.

I use a overall latency of 15ms on my Audio4DJ running on my (old cheap) PC, which is a AMD athlon II X4 running windows 7 64 bit.

On another side note, mine has been running silky smooth for a while now, but I had so much trouble in the past (all versions of Traktor, none specific) keeping Traktor STABLE, and tried every tip on the NI site and forums etc (trust me!) but still had CPU/glitch issues, and what worked for me was this :

PS. I found this tip online somewhere from someone else, I can’t remember where now, but it is NOT my original idea/tip, so I am NOT seeking any praise for this, just for clarity :)

Hold CTRL, SHIFT ,ESC to enter task manager/processes, right click Traktor.exe, then click ‘set affinity’. This chooses which processors Traktor runs on, and ‘for me on my quad core AMD II X4’ I turn off all processors except number 1 (which is actually number 2 as they start at 0 lol) and it makes latency and operation MUCH smoother, and the results are clear to see in the Traktor CPU load bar.

WARNING! – Do NOT turn on multicore support in Traktor if you have just followed the above, and turned OFF CPU’s for Traktor, or this WILL freeze your PC.

  2. From the write up on the NI home site, it doesn’t look like they have addressed distortion put out by multi-core selection or stability issues.Ii’ve read about a few people having 2.7 crash… after my install a week and a half ago it faceplanted on day 4.
I’ll keep reading the NI forum and see when 2.7.X cleans up, till then I’ll keep on rockin’ 2.6.8

  3. Don’t forget they just introduced two new features (Freeze & Slicer) as well as a new controller among other tweaks. If you think VDJ is perfect trust me its just as much man made as Traktor. I speak from experience as I use Traktor, VDJ 8, as well as Serato DJ. Just be patient and co tinye to use 2.6.8 and they’ll get it right soon I’m sure. Failure is never an option fr any of these companies as their rep as well as a lot of man hours ($) to fix these bugs is on the line.

  4. fantastic, now they can roll out the bugfix for the Traktor DJ / AUDIO2 issue, which is there for 2,5 half months (and meanwhile there were TWO updates)

if someone is not familiar with the story here is a recap. Native Instruments’ own iOS ready soundcard (AUDIO2 mkII) has no master signal on iOS8, there was no warning email about the issue and many users updated to iOS8. however the fun fact is that AUDIO2 is working with other apps on iOS8 (Cross DJ, djay2).

Native Instruments went silent about the case, and nothing is happening
