For the last couple of weeks, the media is plastered with videos of people showing assorted ways to get drenched under ice buckets, ranging from getting slightly damp with a small bowl of tepid water, to others having entire tanks of ice water thrown at them — tank included — in a bid to raise awareness of ALS. For those of us in the UK, it’s another name for Motor Neurone Disease (now you know). But when someone you’re connected to is diagnosed, awareness is raised exponentially.
In May 2014 Jay Smith, founder on Livid Instruments was diagnosed with ALS. This is terrible news, but Jay isn’t one to give in quite so easily. Via Crowdrise, he has set up EVERY 90 MINUTES, a fundraiser designed to bring much needed research money with a single aim — to end ALS.
Now you could get wet and nominate your friends to get wet too. But given that awareness is well and truly raised, a better option is to pull out your wallet and give money to make a real difference instead. That’s what we just did and we want you to do it too. Please please please visit the EVERY 90 MINUTES page and give what you can.
