We saw the teaser, then the other teaser, and now we have the final release. Therefore Mixvibes is pleased to announce Remixlive, an iOS app that is a sample playing and recording toolkit, a bit like a DAW but without all the DAWish complexities that you just don’t understand or need.
The words from Mixvibes HQ:
Mixvibes introduces Remixlive, a brand new iOS app built for live remixing.
Mixvibes, pioneer in digital DJing, is introducing Remixlive, a versatile remix toolbox that fits all needs. Intuitive, yet equipped with comprehensive sample-editing features, this app will inspire beginners and accomplished producers alike.
More and more DJs want to get into music production – however, not all of them can or want to jump straight into sophisticated DAWs. Thus, Remixlive was specifically designed as a bridge between DJing and music production: it allows users to lay down pro-sounding samples on an easy-to-use grid of pads and tweak them in seconds. Its simple design makes it very straightforward, with an interface that truly follows everyone’s learning curve – one step at a time.
Instant creativity
- Remixlive has everything you need to remix music using synced loops, sounds & FX.
- Always stay on the beat: no matter how many loops are playing, they are all automatically synced to the Master Clock.
- Create rich and layered tracks with Multiple Mode: play several samples per column.
Remix music, live
Remixlive is specifically optimized for live performance. Our powerful engine allows you to edit any sample in real time. Without stopping the music, you can:
- change the tempo
- adjust the tone of the samples
- play samples in reverse mode — and more.
Record & fine-tune
Want to create unique tracks? You can use your device’s microphone to record sounds, vocals and instruments, and then fine-tune your samples using a nondestructive ADSR envelope editor.
Mixvibes has created Remixlive in order to inspire DJs and budding musicians to start producing their own music. Remixlive is both easy and fun to use, and a great way to open up the vast world of electronic music production to a much larger number of people.

MY FIVE MINUTES WITH REMIXLIVE
Because it’s free, I urge you to download it and have a go for yourself. In my 5 minutes of play, I rapidly came to realise that I could probably keep a crowd happy for an hour just with the supplied Deep House samples. It’s highly engaging fun, and for this reason alone, you should stop reading this and go have a play for yourself.
Download it here.
Interesting, but I’m not sure if one should be putting their trust in Mixvibes. You can’t even get timecode vinyls anymore for their DVS software, which is a current product. Numerous posts by forum members and direct email to their support email have gone unanswered. Is this what you want?
Then the only thing that could make it interesting to me (dvs control) is not going ro happen…
This is a clip grid app. Expecting DVS control here is entirely off.
Traktor with remix decks has it, Serato the Bridge had it and Live had something in the way (not fully developed my bad) You don’t need dvs control? Cool but innovation could arrive from re-adapting which is unexpected. It is not only about realdjing or not ;)
The question you should be asking is: will it support Ableton Link so it can sync to Cross? Now THAT would be interesting.
Yeah it will be for those who work with desktop/laptop computers but to me isn’t. Ipads are enough to do what I need. ;)
Seems like an alright app. Cost of in app purchases are over the top though – $3.99 (in Canada) for the transpose feature?! Come on.
To be fair, all freemium apps are like that. Since I’ve been tasked with shooting all the videos above, I’ve followed the development closely, and it took a LOT of time to get it right. Remember, these guys need to make money off their work – we’ve all got bills to pay. If you use this app right and slap your own material in, it’s actually quite capable and well worth the money. Put it into perspective: if you buy all the features, it’s the equivalent of one case of beer. I think the people behind it deserve their beer.
Sure but (taking apart your biased opinion) the full pack makes it expensive against competency. All develops deserve their recognition (I bought all my apps and never jailbroken my ipad/iphone even when I don’t use most of them) but some of them (packs) are expensive. This with the not so optimized engine for my ipad 3 made me deleted it after a 10′ playing it.
For people with newer ipad I will suggest garageband too.

I’m not biased at all, since I have absolutely nothing to gain from Mixvibes getting more in-app purchases. My involvement with Remixlive is limited to producing high quality videos.
I was trying to point not to money than to the fact that you are involved in these videos but not in the launchpad or modstep ones.
I’m agreed about giving credit to devs efforts but it doesn’t justify expensive cost. Features maybe but then it is a matter of user needs (market).
Supporting a buggy or expensive product could be an option for little ones but mixvibes is supposed to be a stablished brand, maybe not so big like novation but then market yourself (mixvibes) as is. The problem to seem big is people expect affordable prices and features blabla.
Making their app expensive than launchpad will not make users switch imho.
Have you tried garage band on your iphone? I’d love to know how it compares before I download another one of these. I liked playing with Novation and Loopy but could not arrange things anything like i can in garage band. Disclaimer : in no way a musician, just make backgrounds for youtube videos.
I just bought the Jungle set. That’s a lot of fun for £1.49.
that’s why I’ve oh-so-subtly hinted at it in the walkthrough ;)
Download link doesn’t work – extra chars.
just looks like a knock off of launchpad app
hang on , i like the packs better though lol
As an android user I can’t use this…. One suggestion though is to have it able to use an external midi clock.
I guess most audio app devs are looking at Ableton Link right now.
