NOCS NS900 DJ Headphones: Style and substance

[vimeo id=”78280018″]

Swedish company NOCS makes some seriously desirable gear. The orange wireless NS2 monitors are obviously on my shopping list as the ideal DJWORX accessory for the worxlab. But for me, they’ve really been missing a DJ oriented product. But after a lengthy gestation period, the NOCS NS900 DJ headphones are here.

We first spied them casually scattered around the Dynamic Distribution stand at BPM 2013, but the final specs are now released:

NOCS NS900 DJ headphones (4)

NS900 LIVE

Like most of our products, the NS900 was created to satisfy our own wants and needs. Something was missing from the DJ headphones we used while playing, and we wanted to create a product with a suite of features that filled this gap.

The NS900 as it stands today took two years to develop.  Over that 24-month period, the headphones went through a number of different designs. We were determined not to stop until every necessary function was included, and until the functions worked together to enhance the product’s performance. This dedication to cohesiveness, the idea that the sum is greater than the whole of its parts, is the essence of the NS900.

The materials we used were inspired by common products from our “familiar” environment — products we use in everyday life – and were chosen because they specifically fit our vision.  As such, nothing was thrown in on a whim; the sandblasted/high-polished/brushed stainless screw is proof of this.

We’re extremely proud of how the NS900 turned out. It’s what we’ve always wanted in professional DJ headphones.

Sound characteristics

The NS900’s custom titanium drivers are state-of-the-art – a true leap forward in sound technology – providing an optimal sound experience for even the most discerning ears.

If perfection was a sound, it would demand to be heard through the NS900. Closed, dynamic and with a clean, well-balanced sound, no other headphone is better optimized for club environments.  The NS900 is the gold standard for all things audio, and an absolute must for your next gig.

Materials and design

The NS900 is an unbeatable combination of durable, replaceable parts, unparalleled engineering acumen, exceptional sound quality and user-friendly ergonomics.

With only the highest quality in mind, the NS900 shines through with comfortable earcups, exchangeable earcushions, a resizing slider function and a PVD-coated stainless steel headband with an internal headband secured by steel hex screws.

“It took us nearly 2 years, now with the product in my hands I can say it was all worth it. Thanks to our team and our DJ friends we have managed to create a fantastic product.”

So, another pair of cool DJ headphones. Crafters of such things are finally getting the message that plastic hinge-heavy designs just don’t cut it anymore for DJs. Our gear is taking on ever-cooler aesthetics, and we want our head gear to match as well, and it has to tick the increasing number of boxes that make up our digital life.

NOCS seems to have done that with the NS900 DJ headphones, and have them kitted out with DJ and lifestyle cables. But the proof of the pudding is in the eating or wearing, and a pair of these are on their way to us very soon.
