Tidal price increase for DJ integrations

This isn’t good news. Tidal have just announced that they are increasing the price for DJ integrations. So if you use Tidal as a music source in say Rekordbox, then this will hit your pocket.

If you are in the UK then your price will increase as you need to buy an additional add on to the standard (new) price structure. Essentially it is £9/month more.

So they are making it easier by just having one price tier, but hammering DJs. We’d think this might well put many DJs off from using Tidal at all. For £19.99/month you could sign up for a DJ Pool and own the tracks forever.

Here’s the press release about the Tidal price increase

On April 10, 2024, we’re making it easier to enjoy best-in-class sound quality by combining our HiFi and HiFi Plus tiers into a single subscription tier called TIDAL, available for £10.99/month.
Our new TIDAL Individual plan now gives you access to our music library in full lossless, HiRes FLAC, and Dolby Atmos sound—for the same price of £10.99/month.
As part of our changes to streaming, DJ integrations will only be available to Individual plan subscribers as an add-on for an additional £9/month after April 10, 2024. You will receive extended access to DJ integrations on TIDAL until May 13, 2024.
Switch your plan to a TIDAL Individual plan with the DJ Extension after April 10, 2024 to continue using DJ integrations without interruption. Visit your subscription page at account.tidal.com.
You will see these changes reflected on your Subscription page at account.tidal.com on your first billing date on or after April 10, 2024. Thanks for choosing to be a TIDAL subscriber.

Thinking about it we should have titled this post – Tide goes out for DJs – or similar

I'm a DJ, podcaster and radio veteran, with a background in technology publishing. My speciality is early to mid 90s house and harder beats, I also play upfront house and techno. I'm a DJ tutor and also teach DJing in schools as well as running DJWORX.

I've presented shows on commercial, pirate and DAB radio since 1991 and am currently on the Uk's largest independent dance music station, and original London acid house pirate Centreforce 883.

I play at clubs and festivals across the country, I selectively choose to play at some corporate events and private parties as an open format DJ as well, as I love the challenge of having to make all ages dance.

I can normally be found beatgridding and fiddling about with metadata as well as playing with the latest DJ tech.
