We saw them at BPM, and were fortunate to get the new Reloop RP-8000 MIDI turntables into the hands of some of the finest scratch DJs that the UK and world has to offer last weekend at the DJWORX Session Scratch Jam. And now they’re available in the shops.
To be specific, the PR says in shops today, but I suspect it’ll be more like the next week or two. I did get part way through writing my review, but sadly DJ Angelo took the units I had away to devise a new set specifically for an upcoming video to show off just what the new turntables can do. But generally I was very happy with what I found, as were the gathered scratch DJs.
The only thing I couldn’t fathom from a functionality perspective was that if these decks are aimed squarely at DVS users, why put an S-arm on? Yes I know it’s to make them as Technics-like as possible (especially with the button styling), but I wish they could have been as skip-free as possible, especially when beating the crap out of the buttons.
So I’ll wait for another to become available so that I can spend some more time honing the review. But for those in any doubt that they were ever coming out, they are and they’re good.
cool but rumors have it that there is another company with a version coming out……. but my real question is the rp-7000 white available
Would love a pair, what’s the retail?
£585 each.
They will be £525
Nothing can beat my mk2´s with a pair of DICERS…
That’s the kind of statement that you can only make when you’ve tried out the RP-8000s.
hopefully i can try them out here in Germany/Hamburg…important is that Reloop had build a TT ;-)
Mark, would YOU sell MK5’s/MK2’s and replace with RP-8000’s ?
I’m not precious about Technics at all. Yes they’re good, but lasting 30 years isn’t a prerequisite for me – I buy on features and how they can help me to become a more versatile DJ.
Sell Technics? Probably not. But kitting out a new workstation specifically for DVS use? I’d go for these.
I think we are in the same position, I can’t justify replacing what I have now, but If there was a time I had to replace my TT’s I would be straight in line for a pair. For now dicers give me the same functionality.
Why the S arm? Probably to reduce cost. The tone arm is stock Hanpin right now, right?
Really cool piece of kit. If I were rich enough for new TTs right now I’d almost certainly go for these.
Worth it, they felt great when I tried them at BPM.
Thumbs up.
I just want that wax!!!
oh shnizap! #howmuch #wheresmyskimask
Im waiting to get my hands on the RP-7000, ill make sure to ask the seller to professionally “calibrate” the tonearm for a small fee because these decks are known to have minor tonearm issues compared to Technics.
Where did you hear that ? Or is it pure speculation and Technics love being shown.
How is a tone arm “calibrated” don’t get me wrong there’s probably somethings you can do with a separate tonearm on a high end hifi turntable, but I’ve never heard or seen anything in over 30 years about pro-sumer TT’s.
i bought 2 of them (super oems) this summer, both tonearms felt loose so i returned them to the retailer, i couldnt fix them myself cause the top screws were too tight to even turn left or right, they are the exact same as seen on the RP-7000 RP-8000, over here there is a store who fixes the tonearms before shipping to the buyer. So next time i buy from that store to be secure of a “non loose” tonearm
Technics turntables never had that problem coming new out if the factory, for the simple fact that they were Japanese build with precision. Not some Chinese cheap OEM factory.
Okay, adjusted, not calibrated they are very different things in my world. It does sound like you have a downer on Reloop though.
they were Omnitronic, i’m just carefull about any OEM turntable. No matter what brand. Even the Stanton ST-150.
i had exact the same problem! i bought 2 reloop 7000 and both suffered from loose tonearms!
I think Reloop got the look down pat with this one. It would be cool if they made one without the midi features as well.
They do. It’s the RP-7000.
Ahh nice
Do you know if the torque setting actually effects the feel of the deck or just the start speed like the Stanton’s? Wondering if I can dial it in close to the Technics feel. I prefer a bit less torque for straight mixing.
Ahh its got a separate start stop knob. Might have to check this out in store
Hi LoopCat,
The Torque setting goes from classic (original TT) to high torque (about 3X). The feel of the deck on high torque is much quicker and tighter, so when you release a record it really goes! Real solid.
There is seperate setting for start stop brake.
I think these one arms are the same ones found on the Stanton ST150s……. If that’s the case, do a swap for the Straight arm Stanton’s 150.
I’ve got a pair of mk5G’s and love um, these feel just as good and have pads… honest, Reloop have really upped their game the last few years.
I would love to try that. My fear is the start/stop button, compared to the Technics, and the arm
What is the usb port on the device – USB1 or USB2?
USB 2
man, give me just two of those buttons strip (add a couple of dials) so i can put on a pmc-06 et voila: i’ve made my own Z2… (and still keep my 1200 in their standard size flightcase)
