Not much to see here, especially as it only effects owners of the not especially available Pioneer XDJ-1000. But if that’s you, and you’re aching for Serato DJ to be flexing its HID muscles, then this is for you.
The brief words:
SERATO DJ 1.7.3 – AVAILABLE NOW
Serato is pleased to announce the release of Serato DJ 1.7.3, a minor update that adds official support for the new Pioneer XDJ-1000 in HID mode when used in conjunction with supported Serato DJ hardware.
The Pioneer XDJ-1000 is the first in a new line-up of digitally focussed USB and Serato DJ (HID) ready players. It’s the first ever Serato DJ accessory to feature a touch screen with a familiar club layout and a host of pro DJ performance features.
The Pioneer XDJ-1000 is pre-mapped to Serato DJ when using HID mode, allowing you to use the XDJ-1000 to control many of Serato DJ’s features such as, Library Navigation, Looping, Slip Mode, Cue Points, Quantize, Sync and much more.

Hang on a minute…
Let’s not rush away from this one quiet so quickly. This is the reason why I post the complete press release, because unless you read them, you miss glimpses of the future. This bit is of most interest:
The Pioneer XDJ-1000 is the first in a new line-up of digitally focussed USB and Serato DJ (HID) ready players.
So it looks like 2015 is going to get interesting in the desktop player arena. Obviously Pioneer DJ is in the mix, but I imagine Denon will be getting in on this action too.
I saw (or maybe i wished to see) something else in that press release. Xdj 1000 has a beatjump feature doesn’t it?
And then i went to read a quickstart guide and it says N/A under beatjump functionality. So as it’s been said, nothing else….
But you know beatjump is coming soon to SDJ, don’t you?
It’s not even in the software yet… but it’s coming.
So is the XDJ’s USB media ability primary and SDJ the back up or vice versa? Huh.

An updated Denon SC3900 with full HID support would be a dream come true, especially since they don’t plan on supporting the current tabletop models in Serato DJ (see here: http://serato.com/forum/discussion/1470761#new )
Only “NAMM” will tell…
agreed. I love the 3900s but owning an SX it’s hard to justify buying all of that extra kit just for moving platters…and the NS7ii is a little too big / heavy for carrying any distance.
What about NI HID?
That’ll be down to NI. It’s quite a bit more than a MIDI map. Given that NI don’t do a deck, and the XDJ is likely to start cropping up in people’s setups, it’s likely that NI will release HID functionality for the XDJ, but I doubt that it’s a priority right now.
Let’s just hope they’ll quickly add HID support for CDJ’s without the use of a soundcard. Or am I misreading this and do you still need the audio interface with this as well?
You’ll always need some sort of enabled hardware to run Serato DJ. I don’t believe that there is a CDJ that can do that – only mixers and controllers.
