The problem with bad news is that nobody wants to fess up and general have to break it to anyone. But when you don’t break it properly, all you’re left with is media types who to look for anything resembling official news in the absence of official statements. Such was the case with last week’s Ecler story, where the news was that they declared themselves bankrupt. This much is true, but we have an exclusive statement about the future of Ecler.
This just in:
“Late last week various articles appeared in digital publications to the effect that ECLER had declared itself bankrupt. This information is not entirely accurate and does not reflect the actual situation.
Some years ago, as is widely known, ECLER turned its business focus towards the direction of commercial audio (Pro AV systems integration) and away from developing the DJ market further than the products that are currently still available. In the last 6-7 years we have succeeded in developing a strong market share in commercial audio and are satisfied that our decision was appropriate. In order to capitalise on this success we needed to secure new investment in the company – we felt we were missing market opportunities that could assist in further expansion.
About a year ago we started to search for a new investor for ECLER and during the summer we found a suitable partner. Careful financial analysis drew us to conclude that the best way forward was to liquidate the existing company and allow the investing company to acquire the assets of ECLER (brand, patents, management and personnel). This procedure began in September and is forecast to conclude by the end of the year. In the meantime, Ecler continue to trade as normal.
In conclusion, far from being the end of ECLER, the reality is quite the opposite. ECLER is, in fact, being reborn with more resources that will allow significant expansion. We have ambitious plans in terms of product development which we look forward to previewing at ISE in Amsterdam in February.
We hope that this statement makes our situation clear and corrects any misapprehensions about ECLER’s position.”
That’s more like it — the complete picture that perhaps we should have had from the start. But hey… everyone is talking about Ecler again now, and fondly too.
So it would appear that it’s a matter of “Ecler is dead — long live Ecler”. The old Ecler has been wound up, and the new Ecler sounds like it’s going to kick ass. Let’s hope that they can build on the foundation of amazing DJ product and bring back some of that Ecler magic that everyone universally seems to be missing if the outpouring of feeling is anything to go by.

The industry needs more of this and less of big fish eating up little fish.
But where does the cardboard box come in?
Just hope Pioneer go down the drain as well. Been selling overpriced dj gear for 25 years now.
Sounds fishy… Whenever I’ve heard of companies folding and starting again the next day it’s purely to write off a load of debt and screw over their suppliers/creditors in the process. I hope that’s not the case here.
This not gives trust/hope to EVO owners…
Are you waiting for the 64-bit Evo5 drivers too? I contacted them about this a long time ago and eventually got through to some higher-up person in Spain who told me that there will be no update. That’s why my Evo5 is gone, but perhaps with new resources they can resurrect it… it was a great product, especially when upgraded with the “eternal” crossfader from the HAK series.
No myself but I have some friends which are still wainting too.
I spent a fair bit of time trying to further that cause too – I still have my EVO5 in a case somewhere! Even offered assistance with the actual porting and signing; sadly not interested.
No new DJ equipment though:
“away from developing the DJ market further than the products that are currently still available”
I saw that, but that was a reference to their move back then. I’d like to think the fact that they chose DJWORX as the media outlet to make this statement has some relevance.
Does sound odd that there is no specific mention of a future in DJ for the brand.
Although perhaps you know more than you’re letting on, Mark? ;)
In this instance I only know as much as I’ve posted.
I understood the press release this way: “Hey we sold our DJ branch off to somebody who will bring you new nice stuff and they will present this stuff to you in february 2015”.
First real mixer I bought was a Ecler, so I’m pretty happy to hear this.
Now see if you can coax some info out of Toshi & co.
Now if we could get some good news coming out of Vestax
Let’s hope that whatever Ecler does, it’s something else than slapping their logo on some generic OEM all-in-one controller. The industry could definitely use some competition in the higher end of the gear spectrum.
Well done Perez. Lady Gaga is gonna be angry at you now for having gossiped not-so-true infos. LOL
We reported hard facts that are a matter of public record.
I actually “lol-ed” at that!
Well now at least I know there is hope that I’ll be able to maintain my nuo2 for a few more years. It’s such an awesome little 2ch mixer
very happy to hear the official word. I hope it was sent to djworx not because you guys announced the bankrupcy, but because there is a future for the dj department. looks like they are reading some posts, so: hey ecler, we love your mixers, please support them and make some new ones
