One of my all time favourite DJ videos is Benji B’s string ensemble performance where he crafts a flowing mix with the help of a room full of real musicians. Now on a much smaller scale, but definitely in the same vein is DJ Premier, who swung by NPR Music’s Tiny Desk sessions to perform a lunchtime set of his classic tracks, ably backed by the Badder Band.
Track listing:
- KRS-One – “KRS-One Attacks”
- KRS-One – “MC’s Act Like They Don’t Know”
- Das Efx – “Real Hip-Hop”
- Nas – “Nas Is Like”
- Jeru The Damaja – “Da Bichez”
- Gang Starr – “Step In The Arena”
- Gang Starr feat. M.O.P. – “1/2 & 1/2”
- Royce Da 5’9 – “Boom”
- Gang Starr – “Moment Of Truth”
The idea of having a band providing a steady backing track to a mix is cool, especially when that mix is provided by DJ Premier. Good work.

You mean to tell me, there’s no else liking this video after it’s being posted for at least two days . If this was some goofy looking lame ass youtube dj, playing bland ass tracks in mixes edited on ableton. This post will be full of wannabe giving praise. Post a video of some one with real talent and all you hear is crickets.
You seem to be under the misguided assumption that people use the internet to post positive comments and praise. I’ll make sure you get a copy of the instruction manual.
Yes and Please hurry. I feel I’m missing out.
