TableBeats — scratch beats in your pocket

tablebeats scratch looper iOS

For scratch DJs, the idea of a looper is nothing new. For a long time this has been the domain of flash creations, normally put together to work with one artist’s beats. But TableBeats from Daniel Hulth offers something a little different and works as an iOS app.

As it stands, TableBeats can best be described as a loop player, with assorted packs built in from the likes of DJ Odilon, Beats You Up, Ritchie Ruftone, DJ Hypnotize, and Daniel himself. It’s pretty rudimentary right now, and outside of simple navigation offers little in the way of doing anything but play beats, which generally is all that anyone expects from a looper. You can however decide on infinite looping or fixed loops between 5 and 15 minutes.

A pro version is also in the works that allows for manual pitch changes as well as incremental ones so that you can test and hone your skills with a looping beat that speeds up over time. I think it’s a very promising start, especially as a way of getting free beats on a regular basis. Good work Daniel.

  1. right now. I can plug a usb cable into my mixer, a djm 303, (it has two usb ins, one for ch 1 & another for ch 2), next I plug it into my laptop and it immediately becomes default sound device. I have loopers into the mixer. no buzz, no hum :)
If there was an improvement on my current set-up, I would be interested.
I’d rather see an app that deals with otg usb audio, and flash player. I can find the loopers myself.

  2. This is cool and will probably download it later today. My current work around for using loopers on iOS other than specific apps created by the likes of Thudrumble is using a flash player. Currently using Photon($5.99iTunes) to stream looper sites like scratchloopers.com for my ipad mini. I believe it’s an iPad only app. I feel the $6.00 is totally worth it considering that I can use any of the free loopers available on any looper site.
