Let’s set the mood for the weekend with a killer set from a classic DJ. And it’s a set that underlines that DJing isn’t about having a pile of flash DJ gear or using complex effects chains. Watch 50% of Masters at Work aka Kenny Dope totally nail a 7″ vinyl set of absolute classics.
I love this set because it is exactly my style and taste — a diverse cross-section touching on Funk, Hip Hop, House, and few stops in-between, and it’s spookily close to what I used to play back in the day, and probably would now.
Anyway, it’s late and I’m signing off. I hope you enjoy this set as much as I do.
Really enjoyed this set!
Great share, a real piece of throwback. Reminded me of my teens playing eclectic mix of tracks back to back for hours on end.
TurntableLab have a wonderful 45’s set from the 45 King online at the moment. This is just wonderful Mark, what a find!
Couldn’t find the 45 king set, but there’s the KD bunch as used in the video;

Awesome, really enjoyed that.
So sick he has that first record on 45.
All I thinking was is RED!
And let’s be honest. If it wasn’t Kenny Dope, people would’ve been like:
Boring.
Not a single blend.
Just some basic juggling.
It’s OK, I guess. But nothing special.
I get what you’re saying but it was still a nice selection without clashes. Personalty i don’t care if its Kenny Dope or Dopey Ken, it is an hour worth listening to.
Maybe my needles aren’t set up correctly, but I have the hardest time rocking 45’s. His touch must be super light, too.
Just been passed this link by a DJ friend…
