SNEAK PEEK: DJ Tech DIF-2S scratch mixer

The original DJ Tech DIF-1S was great for the money, but missed a few bits. But those have been added in and is getting released as the DIF-2S.

DJ Tech DIF-2S scratch mixer (1)

After a slew of expensive and aspirational two channel mixers, DJ Tech managed to reinvent themselves and deliver exactly what the market needed, i.e. an affordable by capable scratch mixer in the shape of the DIF-1S (review here). And while capable, it had some omissions, which appear to have been fixed in the new DIF-2S.

DJ Tech product specialist DJ Queazy aka Patrick Danaher slipped out some pictures of the new mixer today. From these we can see:

  • Master cue added (biggest omission IMHO)
  • Balanced outputs
  • Line fader curves
  • Line fader reverses

For me this puts the DIF-2s where it should have been when the DIF-1s was launched, and probably makes this the go-to entry-level scratch mixer. It’s not like there’s a lot of choice at this end of the market. Oh and apparently it’ll come in four different finishes and does have a mini Innofader.

No word on price or ETA, but I’m pretty sure we’ll find out soon enough.

  1. So close. There’s a Master/Cue switch, _not_ a knob. Needs a knob so that you can hear BOTH the master and cue and decide which to hear more of. So frigging close… and I even have the DIF-1S! Dammit, DJ Tech. So close.

  2. So..this is a serious company? I trusted in DJtech when they present Dif-1s.

They was so revolutionary. The first mixer affordable and serious..i felt amazing and I was a big fan.

Later They release a dif-1M and “oh wow”,I thought, this is best company ever and nobody can stop they. When I saw the turtable, the limited edition the trx… oh my god!!

    But…but…but..

After I realized that dif-1M released after many years..turntable (that i remember was really cool with straight arm) never release…announcement..and still announcement..but at the end nothing!

What’s happen to this company?why the stop any activities in the past two year?

By the way..i am not a big fan now, they really annoyed me too much. All the love I had is disappear right now

  3. For the price… I’m assuming this updated version isn’t going to veer off of the price of the Dif1s…. it’s a really good mixer. I can/can’t see why people are crying about this. It’s like DJTech owes them something. They’ve brought to you a budget mixer with freaking innofaders in it. The innofaders alone cost more than the mixer itself. Also, it’s def. not a mixer I would gig with personally. More of a scratch box. Put this up against any similarly priced mixers the Dif1-2 kicks ass in the scratch department.

    • nonsense you don’t know what youre talking about, its doesn’t have “innofaders”, it has 1 mini-innofader as the crossfader

i’m willing to pay 200 more if only they add efx send/return and inno for the linefaders, then we’re talking business

the TRX doesn’t have send/return either but it has seperate outputs per channel wich comes in handy when multitrack recording

      • lol… then buy a 56… this is a budget mixer. Innofaders for linefaders…. meh…. we saw how useful the were for the Z2. Unless your scratching style is more akin to Shortkut and you love to stab with your upfaders then the mini-innofader in the DJtech is good enough. Personally, other than my 05 with a pcb xfader the DJTech and mini-innofader is the biz. Again, let me stress on budget mixer/scratch mixer. You want bells and whistles then there are other options out there. Just not at this price range.

        • i need send returns as im using my mixer for professional recordings in the studio, i have a Korg Kaoss Pad wich i’m currently using. Even the Vestax PMC05PRO-3 had send returns and it wasn’t so expensive.

I don’t need too many bells and wistels but you said the mixer has 3 innofaders wich is untrue as we both know

          • yeah I mixed the dif with the Z2. All use innofaders for xfaders. Look into getting a newer mixer. The Korg Kaoss pad is decent but personally onboard effects is where its at. I personally use a DJM909(with an innofader) for my pro gigs. The Dif is a scratch machine not a replacement for performance gear.

            • the DJM909 is my fav mixer all time (if only it had better upfaders), even the stockfader on that is solid, i however sold it cause there was a bug in the touchscreen, maybe ill get another one one day..i miss it :)

            • ya’ll should check out the djm 303, for scratching. pretty nice cause you can run the loopers in with a usb cable, and not have to disconnect any rcas from dvs or something.
it has a nice alpha fader, the big one with the metal housing, not the little black ones like the innos.
very sharp cut, been scratching with mine for about a year and a half, had to put caig in it once, and it works great. paid $232 for it.

      • It’s a simple mixer and priced as such. This fits the bill for a lot of DJs who just scratch — no effects, or MIDI controllers needed. Just bang on a copy of Superduck Breaks and crab for hours. Bells and whistles not required.

  4. This is a wicked entry level mixer, way ahead from the legendary Vestax 06. I recently used one and even though it’s not the greatest in cutting performance, I would recommend it 100% to any new DJ. It’s a very decent and honest mixer for its price, actually the best bang for your buck right now. With this version, I might get one myself too, just for moving around.

  5. hello, what color is the one on the post, it seems it got some differences from the white version that i can find online. the dj-tech logo is silver and kind of brushed but the white version i can find online the logo is black and the line on the cue buttons here is silver and on the white one is black. do you know why? and if I can find this version? thank you
