Choice is good
It seems that Mixvibes has decided on the slowly but surely approach, and has added and perfected one element at a time. And now we’re at the vinyl hurdle, where all the elements have come together to make one complete does-everything family of products.
We’re putting the finishing touches to our Cross review — Jared is doing most of it, and I get the honour of trying out the DVS part. That’ll be ready in the next couple of weeks, but in the mean time, you can download a fully functioning demo and try it for yourself.

dumb question, how do you get the sound from the laptop to the mixer using CDJs but no sound card???
Are you talking about HID mode? Each deck would have an internal soundcard which directly sends audio to the mixer (thus eliminating timecode vinyl/cd interpretation through an external soundcard and then going to your mixer), and the deck’s controls would manipulate its related functions in the software.
That’s for the CDJ’s that have a built in sound card.
To bad the Numark NS7ii isn’t supported. Any news when or if these spinning DD platters will ever be supported? What is the price? The PR says $149 but the website says $129.
Choice is good… yes.
But with a DVS it always comes with a lack of plug’n’play capabilities.
I use cross with the Rane sl2 @ 2 ms or 64 sample-rate …no audio drop-outs or click and pops……it’s very tight scratch with little to no sticker drifted
Also the new cross 3.2 RC is out today with cloud music service….play your tracks st8 from your sound cloud account…Nice
@J.J….I to are waiting for the ns7 to be supported ….but for time code vinyl and HID with CDj 2000 I,m very happy
I’d love to try this out (long time TSP user) but the demo doesn’t allow DVS setups .. (unless I am missing something).
sry but i think this Product is kind of useless. If i have a proper Hardware i will get a proper Software from the company for Example Serato. Also this Software will be coordinated to the company Hardware. Yes, of course i like the feature it should have every DVS Software but its not a point for buying it.
Hi,
Be sure that this product still has some good points. Namely, updates are free, Cross brings uncommon features (video) and has its own style. Finally the price is very attractive ($149) and there is no risk for DJs who are not afraid to invest in solid gear.
You can just give it a try with the demo: http://www.mixvibes.com/cross-demo
Cheers,
i was just figuring that serato users that have an SL-1 would be happy about this due to it being discontinued and unsupported. it gives a reasonable alternative to upgrading to the SL-2.
i, personally, am a traktor user with a Z2 mixer and a pair of cdj 900’s. i like the fact that i can run mixvibe off the 2 pio’s and route through the analog part of my mixer.
i’m also enjoying the fact that you have created an android client, got my daughter a galaxy note 8 a few weeks ago and made her install Cross almost as soon as it had a charge on it. very impressed with it so far considering the limited use i’ve been able to have. it’s hard to wrestle fresh tech from a 15 year olds hands.
thank you for a fresh approach and some forward thinking… just wondering if you’ll add a linux client as bitwig did?
Salut Mixvibes :)
Will this work with a Traktor Z2? If so, I’ll buy it today !!!
Have you used it? I have. It’s a really nice software package. It works well. I can plug a USB into my mixer and use the DVS with no additional boxes or wires. The price and flexibility are totally reasons to at least check it out. And I can export directly to rekordbox and all of my cue points etc are there. Can Serato do that? Nope.
Makes no damn sense. If you are to use a Rane Souncard then you already have a SratchLive/Serato DJ license. If you use Traktor soundcard the license for Traktor Scratch has either been included or only cost 130$usd.
It’s in MixVibes best interest to team up with a hardware manufacturer to come up with 32bit soundcard with at least 4 channels (2 stereo) in / 4 channels (2 stereo) out. The hardware cost would be cheap for them and they could bundle the whole unit or sell the card separately for 100-200usd. Actually the can even do one better than just soundcard. They can make it tiny so it fits in mixers for the modders out there.
Yes but what is some people are tired of Traktor and Serato and want to switch? I mean, Mixvibes got some features they dont have (rekordbox sync and video mix to name a few). To me, this move of them means that they are making the switch easy from big competitors, for people that are tired of closed system and industry standards. And that’s kind of smart.
This would be awesome if I wasn’t so entrenched in Traktor. I love the idea that you could use it with any soundcard or mixer with a soundcard built in. Look at all the great mixers out there with built in soundcards but no support from Serato or NI. The Denon X600 comes to mind. Its a brilliant move on their part. Its a great way to get people into their DVS at the entry level with hopes that they will grow in that ecosystem.
American Audio DV2 USB is a great little mixer with 4×4 interface built in. It has a standard IEC power connection, XLR outs and full kill EQ’s. I scored on from Ebay for less than 60€ and I also managed to get it to work with Traktor Scratch Pro 2 which I have a licence for. It’d also work with Mixvibes of course.
Will this work with a v7, ns7 or ns7ii? How about a ttm57?
Hey,
Could someone clarify something for me: they say *any* sound card/mixer but do they actually mean any DVS-compatible sound card/mixer? Could I hook up two TTs to a DJ Tech DIF-1S, the mixer output(s) into Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface and have a DVS system running (as long as I buy a license to the pro version of their software)??
I’m coming from midi controllers background (I’ve used both Serato and Traktor quite a bit) and trying to get the cheapest DVS setup possible right now. Buying an SL2 or SL3 is getting in the way of the cheap part for me… and I already have the Scarlett 2i2 which I use for production.
Thanks!
@ J.two.8…The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 only has 2 audio inputs and 2 outputs …you need 4 audio input and 4 outputs….2 for one tt and 2 for the other ( the inputs and outputs run in stereo pair,s )…..
You don’t need to pay the hight price for a sl2…for a cheep Dvs audio interface with 4 in.s and 4 out.s and with good phono pre-amp,s and ASIO drivers …look at a ebox 44 at $ 90 it works good
@ Steve….cross don’t work with v7 the ns7 mk 1 and 2 …..the moving 7 inch plater is to hard to midi map as it’s send more than one midi message at the same time
I know because I’ve tried to map my ns7 to cross…..maybe mixvibes might do a map ,but I don’t think Thay will……a friend has my old ttm57 I sold him ..so I can try for you if you like
awesome. thank you!
