JFB and DJ Angelo — pure scratch skills [VIDEO]

Getting the week started right is this video from JFB and DJ Angelo. Nothing gear related — just some good old fashioned funky scratch skills.

Getting you warmed up on this chilly Monday morning is this quick clip featuring DMC champ JFB and DJWORX favourite DJ Angelo. JFB is putting together his first LP and invited Angelo down to work on a track together. At the end of all this was a fast and furious scratch session before Angelo had to leg it back home.

It’s short, but really good. Even non-turntablists should watch. This will blow away a few cobwebs on a cold Monday morning. Enjoy.

P.S. is it just me or does every scratch DJ with a video camera own a Rane Sixty Two now?

  1. Great video but on the p.s. Side of things it’s seams no one using traktor any more they must be giving rane 62 away or has every one moved To serato

  2. I liked the fact it sounded old school but still “fresh” (so no annoying fresh, scratch, and oh-yeah sounds, finally!)

And I can see why people use the Sixty-Two. It’s a hell of a mixer, it’s the most recent and feature packed on the market, it has quick and tactile control on all the good DVS features.

Plus: While Serato is dominating the classic DJ market for over a decade (plus their sponsorship in the DMC championships) NI focusses on live-remixing.
My opinion: When they claim to create the future of DJing they’re somehow admitting that they lost the present of it.

    • I agree 100%! Most scratch DJs i know don’t see the future of DJing the way N.I. sees it and being that we all probably not going to see a Traktor Kontrol Z2 (with linefadercurves, all innofader, FX-Send/Return and two USB-plugs) the smart move is making the switch!
