In a little under 4 hours (6pm European time), Serato will be broadcasting a live press conference from ADE 2015. I have no idea if it’s a tables and microphones post-match style affair… “well Mark, the boys done good with this one”. Or if Serato CEO AJ Bertenshaw will be pacing the stage rocking a turtleneck in front of a huge screen being “thrilled and excited”.
Ray will be there on behalf of DJWORX, so we’ll have some sort of media from the event. More details when embargoes lift. But feel free to speculate, commentate, sarcasticate, or generally throw wild and ridiculous guesses out there for a laugh. We will however not confirm or deny anything — it’s Serato’s announcement, not ours.

Seriously, they’ve got my attention – the introduction of Club Kit was a killer move that NI have yet to match, what could be next? If it weren’t for the fact they’re Kiwis they’d be likeable….
My Speculation:
Serato will be acquired from InMusic Group. That’s all.
Pioneer = Rekordbox
NI =Traktor
Numark & Denon = Serato.
And moreover inMusic Group will add a real “luxury” brand in their bag.
Seem no more other brands in the Dj world. Vestax is closed, Gemini is again near to close (I guess)…no other brand in the market where Serato can provide a Software. And this is a Pity.

My best guess: New hardware partnership. Perhaps launching Serato-branded hardware manufactured by Numark, Denon or Reloop.
In order to combat the Pioneer DJ onslaught, Serato, NI, and Atomix will join forces to form Virtual Traktor Scratch DJ X… The DVS equivalent of Voltron.

Not really what I was hoping for either. I generally think streaming is a bad idea. And I like to be able to speak the truth when I tell people that I don’t have the song they want to hear.

my view on it though is normally when someone requests something you don’t have it tends to be a pretty bad track, i hate playing bad tracks
I think streaming in DJ software is the future anyway so guess it’s good that Serato is the first to enter that area with Pulselocker. I still doubt it will work smooth anytime soon. Would like to see some sampler improvements meanwhile.
Serato are not the “first to enter that area”. Atomix have had onboard streaming/downloading with their Content Unlimited service since 2013 http://djworx.com/30-minutes-with-virtualdj-7-4-and-contentunlimited/ (and NetSearch since 2009).
And for completeness, Djay has Spotify, and Cross has Mixcloud too. DJ Player has Deezer too.

Well if it’s just pulse locker that’s nice… it’s good you can save and play tracks offline.
But dam I was hoping for some split screen options. Library on your ipad via the app and a full screen of controls for my aging eyes

Looking back at the history of Pulselocker (they launched before with Serato s/w) it seems they’ve been coming and going rather a lot. Here to stay now?
