Mojaxx is an animal — an animal with a camera, and a desire to show you all that is hot in the DJ world. He was all over Serato Remote before many could even get a story together, and he’s done it again with the brand new Traktor Kontrol X1.
With a unit provided by decks.co.uk, Mojaxx offers a detailed walkthrough with a smattering of opinion, and without any fancy pants virtual waveform overlays. His is a no-nonsense approach, with a calm and authoritative delivery that goes over the basics of the new Traktor Kontrol X1 without the visual PR fluff. If you want to get the skinny on this new lump of Traktor shiny, I strongly suggest that you watch the video.
Massive thanks for sharing this one Mark, much appreciated.
What’s bizarre to me is just how much I managed to miss, even in a 15 minute video.
Things like Sync button + Loop knob combos to adjust bpm, shift + load buttons to turn snap and quantize on and off, the list goes on.
It’s really amazing how much functionality they’ve squeezed into the unit. I’m using it at a gig as I write this, and I’ve not even put my timecode vinyl on the decks so far tonight. The X1 mk2 is doing the lot.
Looking forward to reading the DJWorx review!
It was an excellent, no nonsense review mate. Now that I know that I want, no.. let’s make that ‘NEED one’, I will now have to come up with some story to convince the Mrs that my MKI X1 is now obsolete and that it’s ok to spend money we don’t have on another controller!!
Thanks!
Whether an upgrade is worth it, is a tough call.
I had borrowed the original X1 for a few weeks off a mate, so buying the new version was a no-brainer for me, but I think I’d have a hard time justifying the outlay if I already had the old one.
The mk2 doesn’t really do much MORE, but it does do everything in a slightly sleeker fashion.
The original is still superior for Serato use IMO, so I suspect the used market for mk1s will remain healthy if you want to sell yours.
Except it only exposes 4 hotcues, and touchstrips stop being interesting once you notice you can’t change a value without a skip of some sort. To me this looks a lot like the Novation ReMote mk2. Slightly better, but mostly cheaper to produce.
