Nothing is ever black and white, except Pioneer DJ NXS2 gear

Benjamin Franklin said "in this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes". And white editions of Pioneer DJ gear it seems.

There’s no real way to spin this out into some sort of epic think piece. I could ramble on about the psychology of colour, the conservativeness and at the same time superficiality of DJs, or wince at the thought of just how grubby this gear will get. No, instead I shall just tell you that the eggs is eggs inevitability of White CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 gear is upon us, albeit a bit later than usual.

There’s not even a press release — just these brief words from my inbox:

Introducing the new CDJ-2000NXS2-W and DJM-900NXS2-W

Limited edition white set-up with distinctive plaques

We’re releasing exclusive new versions of our flagship multiplayer and DJ mixer in a brilliant white finish. A strictly limited run of 1,200 CDJ-2000NXS2-W decks (1,000 for Europe, 200 for the USA) will be produced, along with 600 DJM-900NXS2-W mixers (500 for Europe, 100 for the USA). Each unit will be stamped with a distinctive plaque featuring a unique serial number.

The CDJ-2000NXS2-W and the DJM-900NXS2-W will be available from early October at an SRP of €2399 and €2399 respectively, including VAT.

That’s all I have, and in reality there’s nothing more you need. I await the Pumpkin Spice edition to follow soon after.

  1. they’re not that bad. i played in 2014 on these custom red ones pioneer made for a club in tokyo, to go with their sound system and the whole aesthetic of the place. looked ok at soundcheck but at night, with all the lights, the whole thing was just burning your eyes out https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1c32d2b94783ef8194514afd0731c3f961d66921d0fd06503e9276652d9cc495.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/d21f2073eb20a61a5c9b10db1bf0d60cedea90c52f9297c9852e1520fa326c63.jpg

  2. No love for other markets, just the US and Europe? :P

It’s the first bit of kit that’s white in colour that I actually like the look of…!

That’s some pretty pricy gear though, so yeah, nope.
