SHOWCASE: Jon1st on the Rane Sixty Two

Turntablists can press buttons too. And as Jon1st shows, the Rane Sixty Two's buttons still sound cool in a scratch DJ set.

Jon1st is an emerging talent in the turntablist world. He’s also very tall, devilishly fast, and supremely talented on the 1s, 2s and frankly whatever he turns his hands to. He’s also an adopted member of the DJWORX team, so it’s only fair that we brag a little (by proxy) about this short but perfectly formed set, done on a Rane Sixty Two.

Using LV’s “Push It”, Jon combines juggles, both deck based and cue point based, along with a small scoop of his most excellent scratch skills to craft an on-point set worthy of anyone’s DMC performance. It’s really cool to see Jon develop as a DJ. He’s always had talent, but in recent years he’s honed and sharpened up the precision and creative skills. He has the makings of being a DMC or IDA champion. He placed 5th in last year’s DMC online world finals, so for me it’s just a matter of time.

C’MON JON1ST!
