Although we’ve posted so many times about Mixvibes’ new journeys in music software, there may well be some of you not aware of Remixlive for Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android. Imagine a grid-based app geared towards performing with loops and samples, but stripped right back to the essentials… that’s Remixlive. The Old Owner
  1. This is all well and good….IF they were also keeping Cross up speed, which they are not.
The following is an actual quote I posted on the Mixvibes forum –

“It is a real shame that Cross is not being more actively improved with
some of the simple suggestions from these (the Mixvibes) forums. You used to read
statements like “the big four in DJ software” with Cross being the
fourth. No more. Now there is also Rekordbox DJ and DJay Pro (for
Windows) in the game. Lost momentum. Did you people just give up?”

In addition, notice how I’m the first person commenting here. It speaks for itself.

DJworx – I expect this to be deleted – the Truth always hurts.

    1. Why would you expect this to be deleted? We don’t provide a safe space for the industry, free from hurt words or something. If you post constructively, which you have, then it’ll stay. Mixvibes are grown ups and have had harsher criticism from me in the past. We do it because we want the industry to prosper.

Just out of interest, what do you feel Cross needs to get up to speed?

      1. Simply look at the Mixvibes forum – I’m user “Hanginon” – you’ll see the same issues/concerns by others as well, some going back 5 years!!

Cross is a frustratingly good piece of software, only held back by a few “what were they thinking” issues, that can probably be fixed if they move their resources away form the tablet/phone apps, and back to the PC/MAC world, or did they “just give up”?

        1. Hi Fred,

We understand your frustration and it’s definitely your right to express it. As Mark said, there is no need to worry about comments being deleted here.

Like some other software developers did in their own time, we have chosen to concentrate our resources on new products for some time. As you rightly pointed out, creating mobile versions and new software while continuing to improve Cross Mac/PC is quite challenging and this is why we had to postpone the release of a new major version.

That said, Cross 4 is still in the work so the upside is that there is still time to integrate the feature requests submitted on the forum. I will double-check with our team that our bug fix/feature request list is up-to-date and includes everything that has been mentioned there. You can also let me know if there are any additional/major concerns you’d like to highlight.

          Best,
          Louis @Mixvibes

          1. Well, it has been slightly more than one year since the above response by Louis-Pierre Baudry at Mixvibes. In that time we have seen Traktor 2.11.3, Serato DJ Pro (64 bit), Rekordbox 5.3.0, VirtialDJ 2018, Mixxx 2.1.1 – over at Mixvibes, nothing about an update. Not a peep about an Alpha or Beta of Cross 4.0 on their Forum. Zero.

They did launch another non-traditional DJ app called “Beat Snap”, but IMHO this again is miss-directed energy by the Principals at Mixvibes, and long term will not serve them well in the marketplace.

For those of you not familiar with Cross DJ, with the exception of a few glaring faults, it is a truly excellent piece of software. In many ways it is better than my second favorite, Serato, and is the reason I’m so critical of Mixvibes for not continuing it’s development. Unfortunately, at this point in time, a lot of momentum has been lost – it may be too late to turn the ship!
