NAMM 2014 Exclusive: DJ Tech CTRL controller

NAMM 2014 DJ Tech CTRL controller (4)

Much like the craft of DJing, there is a core feature set that digital DJs need. And generally speaking, they’re almost all the same and quite easily MIDI mappable. So the new DJ Tech CTRL controller is the ideal partner for anyone who uses DVSs.

It’s not a new idea — Denon did much the same thing years ago with the DN-HC1000S, the first attempt at harnessing the power of DJ software without having to constantly lean across to your laptop. The DJ Tech CTRL reworks this idea to incorporate all that is current in the world of digital DJing. It should all be easily mappable in your favourite software, and once it’s available it should come with maps for all current popular software. And when I say should, I mean it better had do.

I think I’d like to see the likes of DJs Face or 12InchSkinz make custom overlays for these so that people can map them any way they wish. Usage is implied but not fixed, so you could use the CTRL for something other than what the screen printed faceplate says.

No word on price, but given DJ Tech’s target market, I imagine this is coming in some way under $100. More info and confirmation on price when we have it.
