Audio Artery unveiled The One DJ software back at the BPM Show in October 2011, and saw a landslide of beta testers sign up to get their hands on the highly promising modular approach to MIDI controlling and audio channel wrestling. At NAMM, we gave a further glimpse, but rumoured to be hidden somewhere about the stand was the EKS Lab, a controller said to have The One transplanted inside and running as a self contained box a la Stanton SCS.4DJ.
Well we didn’t see it then, but we certainly did today. And the rumours were true -EKS have taken The One (actually called One CE), and built a controller around it. Unlike the SCS.4DJ, it has a touch screen, and obviously The One inside. This unit is a highly fragile early prototype, that won’t be ready until September (yes, it looks like electrical tape around the screen).
These pictures tell you all about the unit:
And these are a few more pictures of the unit itself. There will be some more changes before the final product, but not many, apart from the obvious smartening up:
Now, as it the trend in these risky times, EKS would love for you to take a look at the product and the spec, and comment accordingly. This is likely to be a high quality product just like the EKS OTUS, thus it helps them to make sure that it’s as good and as tailored for DJs as it can be.
EKS are watching so please let tim know what you think, but do it constructively. Ta very much.
