The usefulness of all-in-one units is without question. But there’s something to be said for building your own system from cost-effective blocks, which is exactly what Korg’s Volca system is. Luke Edwards stepped up to the demo stage to show of the Volca Beats, Volca Bass, Volca Keys, and the new Volca Sample.

These bite-sized boxes are pure fun, but equally capable of producing some serious tunes in the right hands. But the price is what is amazing — for around £90 each you can build your own system and feel like a real analogue synth nerd and make great music too.

I guess I’ll be getting a set of these to sit alongside my future Roland AIRA setup.

Commenting Etiquette

Welcome to DJWORX. It’s the most engaged community around, and we have a handful of house rules to keep it that way:
  • • Be polite and constructive.
  • • Treat others as you would expect to be treated. So please disengage keyboard warrior mode before hammering in a full caps rant.
  • • Stay on topic.
  • • Consider your tone of voice. Telling someone that they’re wrong comes across better as “I don’t agree and here’s why”.
  • • No links to copyrighted or offensive material.
Life is way too short to waste time policing comments. So break the rules and you’re out. It’s just the internet, and  the DJWORX community is way more important than catering to the fragile egos of ranting trolls. I trust I have been crystal clear.
