AlphaTheta have been busy. Not only have they released a new fanzine celebrating 30 years of the CDJ but also a new documentary about Ibiza. This is well worth a watch, featuring big names like Fatboy Slim, Carl Cox and Kolsch talking about the world’s number 1 party destination. The feature length documentary charts the history and importance of the island’s party scene, and asks “how did it happen?” and “is it sustainable?”

Kölsch, DJ/Producer
“I really do hope that Ibiza finds the golden middle ground of having the room for everybody here, because that’s what it always was. There was room for Freddie Mercury, but there was also room for the Balearic hippy living on the beach. And I think this is what’s so beautiful about this place. And this should be the same with the clubs. There should be room for the 18-year-olds, here the first time… and there should be room for the ultra-VIPs spending X amount of money as they wish.”
Research conducted by AlphaTheta found that more than 77% of club-goers see Ibiza as a must-visit destination for clubbers. We are sure that by the end of the 90s this figure would have been way higher. So is Ibiza losing its magic? Are the high prices putting you off? Let us know in the comments.
Ibiza has changed, for better or for worse?
Sadly no mention of the mighty Play2 club in the documentary. DJWORX maintains it has had more good nights there than any club on the island.
Anyone remember Ibiza Uncut? This documentary is the polar opposite of that
