NAMM 2013: MixVibes Cross and Pioneer CDJs play nice

MixVibes Cross Pioneer CDJ HID NAMM 2013

Being best buddies with one of the largest DJ companies in the known universe clearly has its advantages. As creators of rekordbox, MixVibes have given Cross a very strong library function. But now the interoperability with Pioneer hardware is now complete, for MixVibes Cross v2.3 is now perfectly in tune with the whole current CDJ range via the magic of HID. Marvellous.

Some brief words:

Just watching the video shows how deep the integration between hardware and software goes. 2 USB cables later and MixVibes Cross is playing audio and video like a boss. It does appear that the claim of having the most advanced HID integration might not be empty marketing claims. And when you add video into the equation, it does give the big 3 something to worry about.

If this doesn’t get people to take Cross seriously then nothing will. The ongoing review will now include v2.3, and if it doesn’t get delivered soon, someone is getting fired. Again.

HID Integration for CDJ 850s and 350s? Now, that’s gonna be a massive selling point for both the players and the software!

yes I’ve been thinking of getting the 850 from launch date but wanted to use them with Traktor I already have CrossDJ so now I see no reason not to get a pair of CDJ 850. Only thing is I like better the FX in Traktor and don’t see me doing video anythime soon if ever

you need Cross for HID usage, CrossDJ is still Midi-only.

    NI, are you seeing this????

Get on it or Cross will finally start to take some of your market share on this feature alone. This works with all Pioneer CDJs with USB. Not just the flagship players that Traktor plays nice with via HID.

It is time. Just do it.

I know Pioneer probably helped them since Mixed Vibes also makes Rekordbox for them, but really NI can do it if they want. VirtualDJ and Serato did a long time ago.

hmmmmm… given that most clubs these days have CDJ900/2000/850 this can be the killer feature that gets people attracted! I hate doing HID in traktor because i have to plug 2 usbs and then create aggregate device, then set the outputs blah blah blah – its just not user friendly, which is why i still use timecode + Audio 6 to play out (which is also a pain to setup). If this is as plug and play as advertised, i might be willing to buy cross to try it out just for this feature alone

This is great news for quick club setups, wonder if there is a tool to convert serato crates?

after buying the upgrade from DVS to Cross i have also installed the Update to 2.3. I have tried using Traktor as a midi solution with my cdj900 but that just doesnt work properly.. lag all over. After seeing the vid above i was quite curious and bought cross 2.x.. this just works.. waveforms show in the display, you can browse search do all stuff you would normally do on a cdj but now using Cross.. you will not feel the difference.. Great job Mixvibes!!!
