We’re in the final 4 weeks before BPM 2013 kicks off, and Denon have announced the Freestyle DJ Competition. It’s basically an online eliminator to find the final 16, and then the live final at the BPM Show to crown the winners, who of course will win assorted stuff.
Here’s the full rundown from Denon:
It’s just 28 days to go (well a little less now..Ed) until the UK’s biggest and best DJ event, the BPM Show, where Denon DJ are sponsoring this 2013 Freestyle DJ Competition – DJ entrants from all around the world are welcome to enter. It is held in the BPM CHAUVET ARENA on Saturday the 14th of September.
1st Place: Along with lots of exposure and promotion from BPM and Denon DJ, the 2013 Denon DJ of the Year will walk away with the pro-spec’d Denon DN-MC6000 professional mixer and controller
2nd Place: DJ will take home a Denon MC2000 Serato DJ Intro controller.
As an added prize for 2013, the 1st place winner of this Denon sponsored Freestyle DJ Competition will get flights, hotel and a chance to play at Fusion – Guernsey’s premiere nightlife venue! (included in the prize are return flights from mainland England and hotel accommodation for the duration of the DJ’s stay in Guernsey)
How Does It Work?
The live stage of the competition will take place beginning with sixteen contestants competing in four heats to impress a panel of industry experts. During the heats, each DJ will have just five minutes to show what they can do behind the decks before the judges choose a winner to go through to the final. The judges will base their decision on technical ability, music selection and crowd interaction. At the end of the day the grand final will take place on the main stage, with each finalist performing another five-minute showcase mix. The judges will then select a runner up and the winner who will become the Denon DJ Freestyle DJ of the Year 2013!
How To Enter:
DJ’s must record a video or audio mix, upload it to a sharing site (e.g. SoundCloud or YouTube) and then fill in the registration form on the BPM website. It will then be down to the public to vote for their favourite mixes. The sixteen entrants with the highest number of votes will progress to the live heats. The online voting will run from Friday the 16th of August to Friday the 6th of September (three weeks). Entrants will be able to enter at any time, but the earlier a mix is submitted, the better chance of getting through!DJ’s can follow the link below to more info, T&C’s and entry form
So it’s actually started, so you’d better be quick. And only enter if you can make it to the BPM Show at the Birmingham NEC on September 14th.
