Algoriddim djay 1.6.4 gets audiobus support

Another day, another iPad news story. This time it’s to supplement the just posted Pioneer DJC-WeCAi and pad out the detail of algoriddim’s djay 1.6.4 release. You see it’s not just to offer compatibility for Pioneer’s new cable and mappings for controllers, but does also add a very important new feature, namely Audiobus support.

What is Audiobus? As the name suggests, it’s a conduit between the source and the output. Sat between the 2 are the Audiobus enabled apps such as effects and EQs. So in this case djay is the input source, in the middle is effect, and at the end is the output, but could equally be another app. Think of it as a tiny patchbay stuffed inside your iPad joining all these bits together.

You’ll need to purchase and install Audiobus from the app store first (£2.99 UK) and set it running. It’ll recognise all your Audiobus apps, (in my case djay and Rebirth), and then drop some Audiobus enabled apps in the middle. It’s very good at locating suitable apps, and there are a few free ones to try out too.

It’s a tad more complex than that of course and depends entirely what you want to achieve and have installed. But it’s there and it works. If you have djay and other audio apps installed, it’s worth the small price just to have this architecture in place.

Here’s the full list of djay 1.6.4 changes:

✔ Introducing Audiobus support: Now you can stream live audio directly to other Audiobus-compatible apps! See http://audiob.us for more information
